Knowing you are coming down with something is a crappy feeling. All day yesterday I denied to coworkers and friends that I was catching whatever's going around, but my efforts were wasted.
In the past, I have been able to ward off mild illness by demanding of myself to stay healthy and taking it easy. I am a firm believer that the mind has more power over the body than most people care to think.
The worst part, for me, about being sick is knowing that I got it from someone else. My already embedded phobias about germs go a little crazy when I consider the mode of infection. Some germy person touched something innocent at work that I touched (like the time clock) and my obsessive hand-washing failed to catch it. Or, someone breathed in my direction---close quarters in the break room or stock room.
Ugh. With any hope, it won't last too long.

But you understand that using anti-bacterial hand soaps only cause resistant strains to be developed, right? There is a reason I only use bar soap... I would rather not contribute to the development of super resistant bacteria like the drug-resistant strain of tuberculosis...
Of course I know that. I have a bilolgical science degree. AND, I never said the stuff I use is antibacterial. (Though truthfully, it is difficult to find stuff that isn't.) Vigorous hand-washing is all you need to kill bacteria. Don't even necessarily need soap or hot water.
Give me a little credit.
Haha, true. Very true. Even cold water works for rinsing them off. And I did know that you have a biological science degree. ;)
Mmm. Well, I am currently drunk, but not so drunk that I don't know where the keyboard keys are!
I REALLY dislike the people that use antibacterial handsoaps every time they wash their hands.... Simple bar soaps are more than sufficient for removing both dirt and bacteria from skin.
I refuse, REFUSE, to use any kind of antibacterial soaps for any reason. I would rather leave my hands unwashed than do that because later (even if decades or centuries) it will save someone's life. Bar/lye soaps are definitely preferable.
But then, I'm awesome like that. Haha. I kid.
