Death Proof

I watched Death Proof finally. The movie can be divided into two halves. The first half is horrific ---if you hadn't guessed---blood and guts horror. The second half leads you to believe it will be a repeat of that theme until the tables are suddenly turned. Once this happens, the flick becomes extremely comical. I laughed and I laughed.

I still found it to be deeply disturbing though. What bothered me though, wasn't the portrayal of death (since it obviously isn't real), but the destruction of all those cool cars. Especially the Challenger. Did they really crash them??

I saw Death Proof twice in Theaters. I think it's Tarantino's best film in a LONG time. The car chase scenes in particular are just outright amazing. And he brought back the kinds of characters and dialogue that made his earlier films, like "Reservoir Dogs", noteworthy.

I really liked it too. I wasn't sure I would at first but that thought quickly waned.

By the way, were you not into Kill Bill?

Also, Tarantino himself is weird looking.

When I was in high school I loved Reservoir Dogs, loved it. Especially loved the scene where Mr. Blonde cuts off the cops ear.
But not so much now with Death Proof. I've become some cranky old hunchback lady next door, who shakes her cane at the young kids yelling about all of the senseless violence and how it is just, well, senseless (and yucky).
What happened to me? I used to be so much fun.

I think you are still fun.

Didn't you at least find the second half of Death Proof funny?? I was cracking up at what a shift in his character there was.
