...Uh Oh...

I have checked the Barney's website.

Manolo Blahniks are on sale. Not all of them and not the pair I really want, but a tempting several...

And I will be in Seattle next weekend...

The question is, can I refrain?

Uh-Oh

On a recent trip to the Clinique counter at Nordstrom, I decided to meander through shoes.

It is true.

They are carrying Manolo Blahniks. I don't know how I will ever stay away now.

Of course, as established in earlier musings, I cannot afford even one half of a pair of Manolos.

But a girl can dream.

Covet

Here is the new mark.

Wishful thinking in that they are more expensive than I can afford.

(They aren't Manolo expensive though, so it might be a case of me just having to watch for them to go on sale.)

Look for these at shoefly.

Cute Rats

These shoes are a tribute to the year of the rat.

I'll admit that I find them alluring in a cute way, but I don't know that if I had them I would actually wear them.

New Covetableles

There is no end to the number of black shoes a woman must own.

These are Manolo's of course, and at
Neiman Marcus, will cost you about $745. But they are pretty and I can easily imagine my own feet in them.

Newest Family Member

Ha!! You all thought I was talking about my niece, didn't you! No, she still hasn't arrived.

I picked up these lovelies while on a trip up in Seattle. Turns out there are some shoes I can't live without. That's right. These are a blue and black tweed with a little metallic thread and a little red thread---they are a peep toe and I believe this style is called d'Orsay. They are by Linea Paolo, one of my favorite decently priced shoe designers. And, as with all my shoes, I'm secretly hoping that no one else has them.

New Crush

These beautiful Prada shoes strike a question in me.

How does an admitted communist become a glorified fashion designer who can charge over $500 for a pair of shoes? A contradiction to ponder...

*Shudder*

I cannot begin to describe all the things that are wrong with this outfit---Actually, I can.

1) The blazer is too big
2) the sweater is made for a woman
3) the shorts barely qualify as underwear
4) hideous, oversized yellow bag
5) shaved legs
6) socks bunched up
7) socks with sandals

What the hell? This is modern men's fashion? This man is little more than a woman with a penis so how do designers expect average men to adhere to this way of dressing? Clearly, this is a runway look that will (with hope) never appear on the streets. Short shorts for men simply are not a good look.

End Of Era

The age of 26 has passed. And with today comes the end of what suddenly became birthday week. Just to take a second, I want to say thanks again to all my special people for making this b-day be the end of my yearly b-day slump. I've had such a great week.

Here's what my friends have to say about being 27. This is the age at which the good stuff finally starts trying to scratch its way to the surface. There is the potential, already, that this could be happening so I'm going to keep my unsuperstitious fingers crossed.

I'm really glad that b-day week has come to such a fun close. And while I've had almost a week at this ripe old age, I am only looking forward to getting to that aforementioned good stuff.

Meanwhile, I got really fed up with some over-sensitive people at the shoeblogs so I wanted to just post that thread here for anyone interested to see. It is regarding the beautiful Blahnik ladies shown in the picture. Wouldn't you all just freak out if I suddenly showed up wearing those?

Present Desire

I was perusing around on one of my favorite blogs tonight when I stumbled upon the blogger announcing that his faithful fans would receive a discount at a certain shoe store simply because we read his blog. Therefore, I checked out their website and decided the pictured shoes are adorable and I cannot pass them up. What makes these different from other shoes I've posted is that they are more affordable and I am actually infatuated with them.

Manolo Blahnik

I always thought it was weird that there was no website for Manolo Blahnik. You can google "him" or "them" and find out where to purchase these lavish ladies, but there was never a site quite like the newly unveiled.

Not only does his site contain his bio, the shoe collections, and the other usual digs, it has scans of his actual drawings, which can only be called art. The Maestro Blahnik draws in sort of an abstract way, but they are the first manifestations of his fantastic shoe creations.

The pictured are, of course, the ever-so famous Silver Sedaraby. These shoes are the ones from Sex and the City---Carrie Bradshaw is forced to take them off at a birthday party for a kid, when, presumably, one of the other guests literally walks off with them.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

I am a collector of shoes. More than any other part of fashion, they are the best way to portray my mood.

How many pairs of green heels should one girl have? If I got these, that would put me at 3.

And with that, it is time to introduce everyone to The Manolo, whose shoe blog I've been reading for over a year. But it is more than just a blog about shoes---it's a gathering of people who share a common interest in laughing at stupid celebrities, fawning over gorgeous shoes, and even indulging vicariously in delicious cuisine...
