Too Much Wine
Ugh. I'm seriously starting to wonder if I can somehow have a lower tolerance to wine than to say, vodka. Does anyone else experience anything like that?
Haha, it probably is not that you have a lower tolerance (I assume you are referring to the effects of alcohol here) but that most of the mixed drinks women typically order contain only a shot or less of 35-47% ABV liquor whereas wine contains between 5 and 10 ounces of 11-14% ABV so you're still drinking a lot more alcohol in a single glass.
Also, wine is much more palatable to me than liquor, even delicious gin, which causes me to wind up drinking more of it.
And so I stick to drinking microbrewed and imported beers instead of drinking either liquor or wine. And hence why I created my new blog. Oh yes, this is Camron for the other regular readers here.
Then again, if you are speaking of hangovers, vodka has the fewest and wine the greatest number of congeners of alcoholic beverages. Congeners, of course being impurities responsible for most of the taste in alcoholic beverages which explains why vodka tastes like rubbing alcohol and wine generally tastes good; these impurities are also suspected for the symptoms of hangovers.
The more likely cause of hangovers is dehydration, vitamin B deficiency (B12 is necessary to metabolize ethanol), and acetalaldehyde toxicity (from the first step in metabolizing ethanol). Heavy consumption can also deplete the body of NADH (synthesized by the body from niacin) vital to ATP (energy) production which is why you want to sleep for long periods afterwards.
Pretty much all you need, and the only things that help, is a multivitamin, a lot of water, and rest.
Well, I guess the point of my question wasn't about having a hangover. I've never had one even though I've had plenty of fun in the past. Merely, I was noting how what seems like very little wine can have a blurring effect on some of my senses...your explanation in the first paragraph of your response made sense though.
And yes, I checked out your blog. I think I'm going to steal the idea but for wine.
